Victoria Place, Woking – Green Week

Victoria Place, Woking

Events & Experiences

24th September - 2nd October (and beyond)

OBJECTIVES

Off the back of the national ‘Great Big Green Week’ campaign, the main objectives were:

To implement ‘green’ initiatives at Victoria Place that could entice people to understand the benefits of living a greener life

Continue the efforts to promote ‘sustainable living’ via the work that key retailers at the centre are already doing in this area

PLAN

To develop a Green Week campaign that could be interactive and educational, and put Victoria Place on the map as a centre ‘on a journey to becoming greener’.

We integrated a number of new initiatives that were installed for Green Week alone and some that have continued to this day. These included eco-workshops, community donation points for winter coats and clothes hangers and a printed sustainability guide. There was also a beautiful leaf installation made from bio sourced GMO-free sugar cane and a giant plastic bottle recycling whale called Wilma.

OUTCOME

298 workshop participants across the 4 days

24 coats collected so far (activation ongoing)

Over 600 bottles collected by ‘Wilma the Whale’ so far (activation ongoing)

32 retailers involved with the campaign

Campaign video developed with specialist partner – to promote VP’s ‘journey to becoming greener’ moving forward
