OBJECTIVES

The recent installation of a big outdoor digital screen in the main event square at Vicar Lane Chesterfield offers not only a key communication tool, but an innovative way to provide event entertainment. Last summer we were able to provide a new dynamic programme of events, attracting a new mix of audiences.

METHOD

Last Summer,  festival events were launched at Vicar Lane with the screening of Glastonbury, Reading and Leeds Festival and Eurovision – a first for the centre. The Glastonbury event was targeted at families during the day with facepainting and games and an older audience in the evening with cocktails and festival themed roaming entertainers.

OUTCOME

A whopping 20,583 visitors came to the event and total footfall for the week was +12% on the previous week and +24% on the previous year.

Key F&B tenant, Pizza Pi had a 127.9% rise in sales compared to the same day in the previous week and independent pop-up cocktail bar took an additional £1000 compared to other events.

The event received positive social interaction with a total of 1,883 positive engagements on Facebook.
