Using popular installation to raise money for charity

Prince Bishops Place, Durham

Events & Experiences

OBJECTIVE

To maximise the use of the spectacular Umbrella Street installation at Prince Bishops Place, we set up an initiative to raise money for a local cancer charity.

METHOD

The initiative involved customers purchasing wooden tags for a minimum donation of £5, which could be personalised in memory of someone special or to show appreciation for a friend or family member. The personalised tags were then hung on the umbrellas and customers received a keepsake tag.

We collaborated with Elvet and Bailey, one of the retailers at Prince Bishops Place, who supplied and personalised the tags. In return they gained additional publicity through social media and press releases.

OUTCOME

The centre aimed to raise £1500, however we achieved more and raised over £2,000 for Team Solan Family Cancer Trust.
