Objective

For World Book Day, our client aimed to host a fun and engaging free event that would attract visitors of all ages, fostering community participation and celebrating the joy of reading.

Method

To create an exciting and inclusive experience, we chose superheroes as the central theme -an instantly recognisable and universally appealing concept. We selected Iron Man and Captain Marvel, two famous characters, to headline a meet-and-greet, drawing in visitors of all ages.

To reinforce the World Book Day theme, we incorporated live storytelling sessions, ensuring continuous entertainment throughout the day. This not only enhanced engagement but also encouraged visitors to spend more time at the event.

Visually, we embraced a bold, comic book-inspired aesthetic, making the event feel immersive and vibrant. To further elevate the excitement, we encouraged attendees to dress as their favourite superheroes, culminating in a fancy dress competition where the best-dressed participants won themed prizes as special keepsakes from the day.

Outcome

The event received overwhelmingly positive feedback, with impressive results:

  • 701 visitors attended the meet-and-greet—a 6.8% increase from the previous year’s World Book Day event.
  • Footfall increased by 4% compared to the same day the previous year.
  • The event webpage became the 6th most viewed page during the promotional period.
  • 25,298 reach across five Facebook and Instagram posts and an impressive 4.42% engagement rate.
  • 121 new followers gained across Facebook and Instagram through a targeted ad campaign.

We successfully delivered a memorable World Book Day celebration – one that not only boosted footfall but also strengthened visitors’ connection with the centre.
