OBJECTIVES

To help market the town centre as inclusive, modern, and reflecting the different cultures within Romford and ultimately create a sense of pride in the town centre by its businesses, residents, and visitors. In addition, drive footfall to the town and sales / bookings for Bid Levy Payers.

PLAN

Working with local stakeholders including The London Borough of Havering, Havering Changing, Romford Shopping Centres (Brewery and Liberty) to create several cultural and community-based events, the first being a celebration of Chinese New Year. This included organising and advertising several thrilling performances, including traditional Chinese lion performers, ribbon and fan dancers, mask changers, stilt walkers, craft classes and sampling with local BID payers that had a Chinese offer.

OUTCOME

The Chinese event experienced a footfall increase week on week of +35%. We increased social media profile visits, reach and engagement by > 100% during the campaign compared to the previous period. Press coverage extensive including front page coverage in the local newspaper worth £13k.
