OBJECTIVE

AL Marketing was brought on board to reinvigorate the Marketing for Market Place in 2014, when the centre was acquired by new owners.

METHOD

One of the biggest challenges that the new owners of Market Place faced, was changing negative public perceptions of the centre. From persuading the older generations, who were hankering after the old Market Place to convincing fashion loving teens and twenty somethings that Market Place has everything they want and more.

The centre today has a vibrant calendar of free seasonal events aimed at people with a variety of interests and cultural backgrounds – from families to fashion lovers and sporting fans. Furthermore they readily welcome local community groups to utilise promotional space within the mall. Market Place also proudly sponsor Bolton Council and town-wide initiatives such as the Bolton Food and Drink Festival, IRONKIDS and Christmas Lights Switch-on. As a community hub the centre also offers in-centre units to charities, schools and other organisations to promote themselves and offer a service to shoppers, at no cost.

OUTCOME

Footfall has increased by over 20% since AL Marketing came on board and is now very well let. The scheme has also won countless awards under AL’s wing, including a Revo Purple Apple Award, Golden Apple Award, Revo Gold Award and ICSC Solal Marketing Award.
