One of Europe’s biggest retail destinations, the Metrocentre in Gateshead, wanted to raise its profile and boost sales over the Christmas season by reconnecting with loyal shoppers, and building a stronger engagement with less frequent visitors.
The team developed a TV ad alongside production company Media Partnership, which tells the story of a family coming together after separate visits to the Metrocentre with an emotional re-union on Christmas Day. This year the sentiment really counts for something, so a key line in the ad highlights that rather than fashion being the motivation to visit, “This season’s must have…is each other”.
The ad is being aired across TyneTees and Sky Adsmart and backed by digital ads across the Northeast throughout the festive period. The campaign is the first high-profile branded message for the landmark shopping and leisure venue since asset management company Sovereign Centros took over the site late last year, with ambitious plans for the future.
