Lock 29 at Castle Quay

Castle Quay, Banbury

Leasing Support & Added Value

OBJECTIVE

Following the demise of BHS, Castle Quay in Banbury was left
with a huge vacant unit that the owners, Cherwell District
Council, wanted to transform into something exciting that
would help draw in a more affluent, Cotswolds audience to
the centre and drive new revenue income for the Council.

METHOD

The problematic dead space was totally repurposed into a ‘farm
to fork’ food and lifestyle destination – brimming with artisan
food, street food, florist, bar, and mini cinema for events.

OUTCOME

Lock29 has become a sustainable community destination in
the heart of Banbury. Perceptions of the centre are radically
changing and more affluent shoppers are visiting, as
demonstrated through recent CACI research. There has also
been an increased level of interest from a totally new group
of more edgy independent tenants, which reflects an entirely
new aspirational customer.shoring-up the scheme’s footfall
and bolstering sales performance.
